| | | Finally! They released one of the most eagerly awaited albums of this year. Their previous album - "Reality" convinced me that they knew what death metal was about and moreover that they knew how to put it all together. After those two years you will be able to see how far they have moved when compared to the previous album. Today Prejudice is a completely different band than in the past - their music is more interesting, fresher and it is their own. What I mean is that they no longer sound like other bands - they sound like Prejudice! They created a mature album which is demanding and maybe sometimes kind of difficult to get at the first time but once you get it you appreciate it even more. It's also important to spend more time with "Dominion Of Chaos" to understand all the details included in all the new songs. This album also sounds excellent. In my opinion thanks to "Dominion Of Chaos" they are one of the best technical-brutal death metal bands in Europe. This is a great example showing that their necksnapping progressive brutal death metal is characteristic and reserved only for them. I listen to this album very often and really appreciate what they did here!... and if there is anyone who thinks about death metal as a monotonous genre should stop spreading such blasphemies, check the new release from Prejudice and change his opinion!

| | | Incredible! Holy fucking shit, this is what you can call excellent musicianship with a big "E"! Prejudice is hammering their way to the frontline since 1993. After several demo's and 2 full lenght albums "Dominion of chaos" is their newest blast. And when I say "blast" I mean BLAST! Eight ear attacks suffer your heart after the first pulse. This innovative and technical death metal brings up the most nervous tensions in you. All in a postive way. After the previous album "Reality" this one is a smack in your face. Prejudice's European tours with godfathers such as Hate Eternal, Dying Fetus, Vader, Six Feet Under, Decapitated (and the list keeps counting...) have gained this band a solid live reputation. A reputation with a possitive effect on the music. There aren't many bands with such musical abilities and inhuman persuivance. Sure, there are some, but "Dominion of chaos" crossbreeds the typical sounds of Crytopsy, Meshuggah and Morbid Angel into a new nuclear assault. "Domnion of chaos" is the perfect way to describe this album. I mean, the music isn't easy listening at all. It takes a few spins to remember some parts. And that could be the only negative remark concerning this record. You really have to take your time to sort out these destructive sounds. Since Prejudice's eary beginning I had problems with their old vocalist his hardcore styled vocals. Follow up grunter Erik first growls were hardcore alike too, but luckily on this release his vocals totally suit the music. Fuck off hardcore alike vocals, horns up for raw, understandable grunts! Hell yeah! Some guest vocals of Ronald Camonier from Polluted Inheritance can be found on the the second song "Unobtrusive hatebreed". Controlled chaos can also be found in the ultra dry production, recorded at the Excess Studio in The Netherlands. Very good job!
Taking notice of this all, I can truly say Prejudice is worth being mentioned along with Aborted as Belgian lead acts in the extreme death metal scene. And this record just must open doors to the major raging scene. Time has come to get even, it's time to SUFFER!
* Another small notice. Prejudice is searching for highly motivated and skilled bass player. If you think you're worthy enough, give it a shot!

| | | Clocking in at 31.43 minutes this isn't the longest album of all time. Not necessairy here, since the music Prejudice makes isn't suitable for everyday listening. Therefor, the limitation in time isn't a bad thing at all. While the previous two albums were amazing concerning structure, they both missed something in sound. With this third album, Prejudice solved the sound-problem and delivers a rock-solid slam in your face. A technical high-standard product some would say.
It takes trained ears to hear all the hidden and non-hidden technical parts, and it also demands a concentrated listener to fully enjoy the capacities of this piece of metal. That's also the reason why i think lots of (amateur) musicians will adore this album, it's like a masterpiece and perfect fit for people to have an example 'how to play the guitar' or 'how to master your drum'.
Some will find guidance in this album, some will handle it in adoration. Some won't bother after the first listen. But one thing you can't ignore. It gives you a decent head-spin, or at least drives you insane. Pick your call.
Artwork-whise, they grew a lot. From a crappy cover to nice artwork to really pro-done conceptual work.
Dominion of Chaos will probably open more doors for this band, while other will remain closed forever. I think by now they have proven themselves worthy?! |

| | | Technical death metal mongers Prejudice finally crafted the album that has been in the making ever since their previous two outings ?Broken Promises? and ?Reality?. Where the two other albums were crippled by substandard sound quality ?Dominion Of Chaos? is the most coherent and focused album the band has written up till now. After an intro of the dark thriller ?Lost Souls? opening track ?Suffer? displays Prejudice at the top of their game. Odd timeframes, oscillating riffs, tight drumming and tempo changes that make Decapitated pale in comparison. ?Unobtrusive Hatebreed? features guest vocals by Ronald Carmonier (Polluted Inheritance) and sees the band taking their characteristic sound to an international appealing level. ?Undecided? is the mid-tempo track on the album, although with occasional blasting drum salvo?s the pace is kept at the highest level. Produced in the Excess Studios (Disavowed, Sinister, Thanatos) ?Dominion Of Chaos? marks a new era for Prejudice, now rightfully being able to contend with country mates Aborted and Leng Tch?e. With ?Dominion Of Chaos? Prejudice should be able to force a breakthrough. Recommended release for anyone seriously interested in the Belgian scene and/or interesting technical death metal extremity. |

| | | I’ve “swallowed” the msuic of a Belgian quartet in a minute! Great graphics inside of the CD case, interesting “philosophy” of music (everyone who’d read the booklet knows what I’m talking ‘bout) and over half an hour of solid Death Metal, refering to areas penetrated by bands like Morbid Angel or even Cannibal Corpse or sometimes Severe Torture. Prejudice speeds from the beginning to the end, there’s no place for sentiments! Guitars sting in nice tempos and sometimes blast with good solo, which reminds me closely ‘bout Morbid Angel (for ex. „Deformity” or „Nuclear Malediction”). The interesting thing is that the band recorded “reality” on both 6 and 7 string guitars, what is audible in the “weight” of particular compositions. Growling of guitarist Def is full of phlegm and nicely fits into extreme riffs. It’s hard to tell anything more revealing about Belgian music. “Reality” kicks ass really hard and will surely conquer the cd’s of fans of those bands, which were mentioned in the begining. To be honest – I like this brutal Death Metal of Prejudice: lively and sometimes even groovy ;) Just take a try! |
