| | | PREJUDICE - Reality | |
| | | 11 tracks / 36’55’’. This is the second release of PREJUDICE, Broken Promises being their first. PREJUDICE can best be described as the Belgian VADER! The first track, which is practically instrumental, shreds like hell (compare it to VADER’s Sothis if you want)! It smoothly fades into the second track, which is featured on the first compilation CD-R of THE THRONE OF ABSENCE. I saw this technical, brutal, thrashy Death Metal quintet live in THE FRONTLINE, but they could not really convince me, I like their studio work much more. The album was recorded in the Belgian ART SOUND studios. The resulting sound is excellent, superb, perfect and ultra-heavy. Again Belgian painter KRIS VERWIMP is responsible for the finishing touch. And combined with the Szpajdel-logo, the cover reminisces of that nostalgic, old-school look, if you know what I mean. PREJUDICE treats us with 10 annihilating tracks. The eleventh track sucks: a superfluous piano instrumental. Guest musician on this album is Matty from EMETH, who fulfills the second lead on Shadowed Thoughts. The inlay explains what the band name means to them. To summarise, this is very catchy, shredding, pounding Death Metal with great guitars (including soli) and dito drums enforced by brutal vocals in the vein of VADER, SEPULTURA and ALTAR. This killer album reveals the international capacities of PREJUDICE. Next to ABORTED PREJUDICE is to become yet another Belgian Death Metal export product. A quality Death Metal release which is definitely a must-for VADER annex Death Metal fans. Hellgium rules! | | | PREJUDICE :: Broken Promises | |
| | | After releasing two demo tapes independently Prejudice feels crafty enough to produce a first full length offer. Consisting of 10 tracks the album offers a varied sound which incorporates both the structured primal aggression of Suffocation, as well as the technical complexity of Theory In Practice. The recording-sound is stunningly heavy yet clear and comes remarkably close to capturing the band’s insane live intensity. This is not something for the faint of heart! Prejudice offers besides the straightforward brutality and interesting complexity also a progressive touch with the minimal use of illuminating keyboards/synths. This is a brutal, technical death masterpiece that puts Belgium forcefully back into the international extreme music scene. Two thumbs up, guys! |

| | | PREJUDICE :: Reality | |
| | | After the promising first album 'Broken Promises' Prejudice returns with their latest release. The many touring has clearly influenced the band in a positive way. Their second album, known by the name of 'Reality', takes all the elements which made their first record memorable to the next level. The recording-sound is heavy yet raw and well-balanced without losing power or aggression at any given time. The new songs are fluent, more compact and brutal than ever before, the complexity is omnipresent and lifts the band to new heights of technical mastery. The exquisite cover art was drawn by Kris Verwimp and adds perfectly to the overall atmosphere of the album. Besides all of the above Prejudice offers their listeners intelligent lyrical content as well. This band is a force to be reckoned with. To say it with their own words: Fear Reality! Fear Prejudice! |

| | | I didn't want to review this album in first place, took me harder than i thought to do so. Reason? Well, you can't call me very objective on this band i think. In the past i loved them. I really did. Now i don't love them anymore. I adore them. But anyway, i'll give it a try without using too many superlatives, shall i? First off, nice introductional piece of music. Music itself is just plain straight forward death/trash. Highly technical (what did you expect?) so not really the kind of music to get drunk with, but more like the kind of music that leaves you behind, amazed and full of respect with your tongue wiping over the floor. Got my point? It's just, man, the first time in ages i took my air-guitar in my hands and started playing along (i know, it looks silly, but i don't care! Just like prejudice shouldn't care about backstabbing assholes, go for it!!! - more info? read their inner sleeve!). Lots of headshakes later, there's this awkward outro. It's an instrumental piano part, not really my kind of thing, but strangly enough, it suits the entity. It makes you chill and rest for a second, cause be damn sure that you'll hit the replay button when the mayhem is over (hell, i did that 6 times in a row!!!)! Great artwork too, by fellow country-mate Kris Verwimp. Kind of outdated (this review), but the album itself is timeless. |

| | | Prejudice : Reality | |
| | | Aha, Prejudices new one! I was looking out for this one for quite some time. It was worth the wait! Prejudice is a death metal band that combines brutality, technicality and complexity. It's defenitly not an "easy" album and it takes some time to get into, but you'll love it if you like your music hard and complex. If you thought their previous album was too much for you, you'll probably get burned by this one!!! I can't really come up with a band to compare them with, but I think that bands like Death, Meshuggah, Suffocation influenced them a lot. Every song is packed with riffs, solo's, break's... well, you get the point right! The music sounds pretty modern, and I think that fans of Relapse and Hydrahead products might also like this band. But off course all fans of technical death metal should get this to! |
